And both Ohio St and Iowa finished undefeated in the regular season this year, would Iowa be left out of the playoffs this year?

It is interesting in the sense that it could be potentially solved this year (assuming Iowa and OSU both make it there) unlike in 2002 with the same two teams. Also interesting, that in 09 Iowa and OSU played for the defacto Big Ten title game in Columbus.

...which is exactly why I want the Hawkeyes to face an undefeated OSU in Indy.

A few weeks ago, I was pulling for MSU to go undefeated and to face them, just because Iowa has a much better record historically against them than they do against the Buckeyes.

Not any more. This would be a perfect opportunity to exorcise some demons, and sending Urban Meyer and OSU home crying would make my heart sing.
