I LOVES ME SOME MEGA CONFERENCES!!!!

I believe the Big 10 wants market shares and (or) academics. Rutgers is the academics side. Kansas offers nothing to the Big 10 besides a BB team.

Kansas hasn't even been mentioned in the equation so far.

Also, your scenario takes away ALL of Iowa's old rivalries (Minnesota and Wisconsin), which would be terrible. We have been playing those schools for almost 100 years. What about Floyd and the Ax? I'm not sure how they will work out the old rivalries. Somehow they have to keep those. I especially want to keep Minnesota and Wisconsin as would most Iowa fans, I would think?

The CUSA would be a good conference for the clowns. Although they would find it still difficult to win in that conference it would be much more competitive for them and more on their level. At least they would have a chance to win games and compete for a conference championship in a league like that.

The league would be a red-headed step child and would be quite poor because it not get any airtime because there are no major markets. Thus they would probably get less money from the league than they do now, which would hurt so I don't know if that league would even survive? The league would almost have to move to a mid-major type of league IMO to survive? Same with the WAC? There are just too many teams in those leagues to spread money around to unless the superconferences are forced to support those leagues.

Playing 7 in your division leaves room for 2 other non-division conference games. (Iowa v Minn, Iowa v Wisc) I think that's where you preserve your rivalries. Some of them continue within the allignment (Mich/Ohio St, Minn/Wisc etc)

It would reduce non-conf games to 3 (2 if necessary) but that's fine by me. One cupcake a year should be enough for anybody. (For ex, this year Ball St or EIU, Iowa St and Zona could be the non-conf games with Minn & Wisc our non-division conference games.)

Kansas is the wildcard. They are an AAU school and have very good television ratings for Basketball. I could see them being attractive to every major conference depending on how the chips fall.

Pac Ten is getting Texas, TA&M, Colorado, and they will most likely take Utah. (Utah is not AAU, but they have three non-AAU schools already). But Kansas could be an interesting option with the other Big Twelve schools. Pac Ten is cool just going to 14, because they will have more Top 20 TV markets than any other league.

They are not taking BYU or Texas Tech. (Book it)

SEC will get OU, OSU, TTEch, KState. The rich will not get richer. The available good options will not want anything to do with the academics of that league and they have no Top 20 TV markets outside Florida.

ACC will take UCONN, WVA, maybe Louisville, (Syracuse would be nice fit if the Big Ten took Kansas) I am sure they are praying this happens.

MWC will lose it's BCS option when someone takes Utah. The other teams will need to scramble. Could see some work done between WAC and MWC. This is where ISU might fit. However, it would make sense for the MAC, WAC, MWC, CUSA, and Sun Belt to work together in some capacity.

Big East will eat up Memphis and work to concentrate on basketball.

That doesn't work. Yes, there's two games left outside of the division. But do you honestly think they'd have us playing the same schedule every year? That's fine in a round robin. But if we played Minnesota and Wisconsin every year with those two games, then there's 5 teams in that division that we'd never play unless both schools made the conference title game. No way that happens.

You realize of course that should the SEC decide it wants to grow to 16 then they could easily poach a couple of the elite programs out of the ACC to go along with Oklahoma/Oklahoma State. They could also take a strong look at West Virginia, but not as likely.

I don't understand where you're coming from with TT and K-state going to the SEC....they would not be interested in either of those schools. K-state is CUSA material, along with Iowa State and Baylor. Texas Tech is either going to the SuperPAC or to the new WAC.

BOOK IT!!!

Any additions to the B10 that don't include Texas or Notre Dame I'm not interested in. If we're going to 16 the 5 additions I want are ND, Texas, Texas A&M, and 2 of Misouri, Nebraska , Syracuse and Rutgers. My problem with making a super conference is being the first to do it. The SEC will make a play for Texas and/or Oklahoma and render all other conferences to after thought status....

I know it is just my bias, but ND had their chance and did not take it. The Big 10 does not have to beg them to join. As for Texas, they would probably demand a special deal where they get at least a double share of the revenue. Texas would bring in the most money, even if they did have to drag along A&M, but I think Texas thinks it is a little too good to lower itself to join the Big 10. I like Rutgers, KU, Nebraska, Syracuse and Missouri. That keeps the KU/Missouri rivalry alive and adds a big fan bases. Don't under estimate the number of rabid Husker fans around the country and KU brings a national basketball audience. Missouri is kind of the weak link, but they just make so much sense geographically. Iowa would be completely surrounded with boarder wars.

The SEC looks good today with the ESPN contract, but they are the worst positioned league for expansion. They have no major markets outside Florida. Believe it or not, the ACC is better positioned in the long run. Also, the SEC has Mississippi State. They are not much different from K State.

I live down here in SEC country, I hear what they are saying. They thought they had a shot at Texas, but that door slammed fast.
