Look at the time Kirk had a back to back to back top ten finish. They gave him a HUGE raise and huge extension. It was expected that this would be the norm especially since they just signed numerous all American recruits. The future was looking extremely bright.

Since he has had some very good seasons but nothing like those three years. It seems like we are on a 7-5 or 8-4 auto pilot. The formula is suspect however. Beat subpar inferior out of conference teams and then beat three conference cellar dwellers and one middle of the road teams and you get your seven or eight wins.

When a conference title or division is on the line then we seem to fall just short. Forget ever playing for a national Title that’s not ever going to happen with a Kirk coached team. A lot of good programs will have to say the same thing. A national title is rare for most schools. What really stinks is now we are finding it hard to even beat out the likes of Wisconsin, Northwestern, or Purdue for a divisional title.

Even a average Michigan State program has won a conference title three times in the last fourteen years to Kirk’s none. For over thirty years Wisconsin was a subpar big ten program but in Kirk’s tenure they somehow have passed us by and have became the team to beat on a consistent basis.

Kirk and son can sure put a different perspective on things by salvaging this season and winning out. The two losses this season were to legit power five teams and there is no shame in that. They need to step up now and win the games they SHOULD win and finally beat the two (Wisconsin and Minnesota) teams that maybe they shouldn’t to give them a chance to win their division.

If this were a for profit company KF would have been fired for hiring employees for positions that they were supremely unqualified (which have grossly under-performed as well) that have put the company's profitability and long term viability at risk.
