Hannah and the draft

With the draft today, I haven't seen Hannah listed at all in any of the mock drafts I've seen. I thought she had an outside shot at getting drafted.

Some have suggested she might get a shot as a development player. The new CBA created 2 roster spots on each that are in addition to the full roster, much like the two-way contracts the NBA has.

I'm sure she'll at least get invited to a camp.

She is a very good player but a bit of a tweener. Definitely not tall enough to be a true post and she has very limited shooting range so you cannot move her out to a 3. Good player, but gonna be hard to find a role for her at the next level.

I keep having these visions of CC making the quick outlet pass for a fastbreak layup....

The scouting report from the article:

“Stuelke is worth a look in training camp as an athletic big with a great motor and improved passing."

“However, it'll be an uphill battle to make a roster, considering her struggles scoring outside of 5 feet and at the free-throw line (55.4 percent, the worst in the class)."

Her speed going downcourt is a bonus, she is usually as fast as most of her opponents

Good luck to her, she has always been one of my favorites

Hannah is too small to be a 4/5 in W and a horrible shooter, which excludes her from the 3. Also, a bit foul prone. She is, however, very athletic, opportunistic and a good passer.

Too bad she just never developed a mid-range shot or she would've easily been drafted. Maybe her athleticism will get a look by 1 of the expansion teams.

Having not been drafted, it will be interesting to see if she signs to attend a tryout camp.

Or perhaps she will play overseas.

Whatever it may be, we wish her the best! She was a great Hawkeye player and an even better person!

Going to miss Hannah. Gave it her all for 4 years! Almost unheard of these days. Thank you Hannah for being a great Hawkeye!

The W is a weird ass place. Turns out being able to shoot outside means more for the forwards then for the point guards....

Hannah just can't shoot that's obvious she never really improved at that. She doesn't even have a 15 footer she's confident in let alone a 3 ball. That's pigeon holes her into a niche role at the next level. When you can only score from right at the rim pretty much and you're a tweener 6'2 player that gets your shot blocked alot at the college level that too is problematic for her at the next level. She'll get a shot to sign on with someone but I don't see her making a roster

Clarks team drafted a pg with their 1st pick. And she can't score or shoot at all pretty much. She can defend well I suppose but is that and that alone worthy of being a 1st round pick? And they had already just signed another PG that isn't a scoring threat either but does have a nice career 3 pt % of 38% So the Fever used a 1st round pick who'll be their 3rd string PG at best for the foreseeable future.

The Fever didn't need any starters but they certainly coulda used someone to compete as a backup 5 to Boston or a combo guard of sorts to backup/play with KM and Clark. But Raven doesn't fit that she's too small and not versatile enough.

The 2 players they passed on I woulda they rather taken either of was the 6'6 Okot from South Carolina. She's pretty raw still but she's got potential and coulda play spot mins behind Boston. And Kneepkens from UCLA who coulda been a 2/3 type of spot up shooter. Coulda backed up KM/Hull/Sophie some.

The thing about Raven is you can't play her with Clark at all. Cause Raven isn't a 2 at all and playing Clark off the ball for long with Raven at the 1 is just doing the other team a favor and stupid. Raven has no positional flexibility and she can't score or create shots for herself at the college level. I don't see how her game translates... I guess we'll see

The 2nd rd pick the Fever made Pissott from Vandy I think has a shot at carving out a role though. She's 6'4 with more of a wing type of game that can shoot from deep. What I'd find interesting is if the roster becomes a numbers game on who'd they'd rather keep I wonder who they'd choose...

Not to be weird, but I guess I did not know women have similar overseas opportunities to play as men. Is it a similar level, or is it more limited in pay and teams available? For some men, seems like they can play overseas for a decade and make an okay living and see some cool places.

Actually some leagues overseas pays much better than the WNBA. Now with the new pay grade in the W I don't know the difference now.

Oh yeah for yrs and yrs women have made significantly more over there then the WNBA. Till now anyway thanks Caitlin. I remember awhile ago Tourasi took a yr off from the WNBA to play over in Russia more. Some have had to make tough decisions about it. Making 300k over there for 3/4 months or 75k in the USA doing the same was a common thing for awhile.

Tourasi and Griener made mega bucks playing in Russia.

Yup. Many bitch about it. Megan Gustafson has played in Spain/England and other places. I think she got her dog while being over there. I can't remember if that was in Hungary or where exactly. But she's bounced around quite a bit. I guarantee she's made more from over seas then what she's made from being in the Wnba. She's the norm for women pro players.

The Ajas, Caitlins, Sabrinas who make so much in endorsements they don't need to play more over there don't feel like they have to are the few. I think Brianna Stewart does some though even though she makes a ton off the court too. There's exceptions to everything

I don't see any difference in our players taking money from Russia. There's quite a few from Russia playing all kinds of sports over here and nobody complains about it. I will say that the guy Toursi and some of the players played for was pretty sketchy.

What I meant about many bitching about it is that many Americans wouldn't play over there if they could just make more here. When you can make 4 or 5 times what you make here by spending 3-5 months over there they kinda feel like they gotta go. But now that salaries have jumped here significantly (thanks Caitlin) I think we'll see less Americans going over there then before. We'll see

Oh yes you are correct. The overseas market will be defunct of a lot of American players. I did notice in the WNBA draft there were quite a few foreigners. Mostly Spain, Germany and France with a few others sprinkled in. I miss understood you. Sorry.
