Halftime and Pregame Shows Are Not This Important, Folks...

Definitely will be a lawsuit and maybe there should be.

Sad to say but almost every safety rule in the world is written in blood.
Wasn’t there a chance the person had alcohol in their system? If that’s was just a random suggestion - in that case civil lawsuit isnt going to get settled.

I heard that the parents of the deceased band member were asking that any memorials for their son be sent to the Univ. of Iowa Marching Band. That doesn't sound like a lawsuit in the making to me.

Anyone can file a lawsuit. Iowa would probably pay money and settle it, if a lawsuit is filed. That is reality. But, there is absolutely no negligence here by the University.

Remember about 10 years ago when that kid from Nebraska was eaten by an alligator at Disney World? They lived about a mile from my house. Everyone assumed that they would sue and that Disney would pay millions. Disney basically offered to pay in advance. The parents never sued and basically directed everyone to donate to charity. Good people understand that accidents happen and don't take advantage of a tragedy.

The networks are able to postpone games due to weather there's no reason they shouldn't be able to push start of games up or back to avoid kicking off at the hottest times of the day. Especially when playing on turf surrounded by concrete and metal bleachers. Factor in 70,000 people with a good portion of those dehydrated from tailgating and piled in on top of each other and it's a recipe for disaster with or without preexisting health conditions.
Postponing games by 45 min to 1hr after an original start time is a completely different deal than moving a start time 3-4 hrs from the original. The logistics are not the same at all.

No. But neither did Chris Street's parents until the lawyers got in their ear.

They don't have to be. Again I totally get the argument, but they can delay 3+ hours for lightning they can do it for heat. It's not ideal, but both situations its about the health and wellbeing of the athletes and the participants. Again I understand what kind of money is at stake, the broadcast rights, and fact your dealing with 70k people and travel schedules, but if your going to schedule an afternoon game at that time of year you have to have some flexibility.

Seems as though someone should pay for the blame

Were the parents in attendance watching over their child

Does Disney World have alligators wandering around the facility willy nilly among the families
walking around

There is serious negligence somewhere in this situation

Not every tragedy requires someone "to pay." Bad shit happens in this world. We all die eventually.

Disney World was built on top of a swamp. They drained lots of it for the Park and surrounding areas, but there are tons of ponds and waterways and they are wild and have alligators in them. The family was staying on property and there was a beach of sorts near the hotel. There were lots of signs saying "no swimming" and "stay out of the water" but no "warning, alligators." The Dad took his two year old son to the beach anyway and an alligator sprung up out of the water and snatched the kid right in front of his Dad. Cannot imagine.

Its sad, and there was negligence both ways. Disney has better signage and barriers now. I respect the family for not using a tragedy to cash in. They would have gotten millions. Not sure I would have done the same.

The broadcasters are not flexible.

Yes, there was one game in 100 yrs of football that ended up past 1:00 am. That game also started later than a mid day game or early afternoon game. If that was the case, I'm pretty sure the would have gone to another game or broadcast. Maybe go back to the game when on again, but I dunno.

All I'm saying is that broadcasters are typically NOT into the game of adjusting and being flexible to outside noise. And yes, in my eyes, they have to be.
