Former Iowa player Jory Helms kidney failure

He was part of Kirk's first recruiting class and was a backup d-lineman. Sounds like he really needs a new kidney.

He suffers from end-stage renal failure, more commonly known as kidney failure. The machine is keeping him alive. His kidneys function at close to 0 percent. He is in desperate need of a new organ. But his O-negative blood type makes finding a donor difficult.

Yet despite two missed opportunities for a kidney transplant, he remains determined. Determined to fight. Determined to live. Determine to overcome the same disease his father couldn’t.

My prayers will be with him! We need to get Jon to post this as a "sticky" thread. This is a much more important story than expansion or DJK's draft status, IMO.

Jory was actually my roomate back in iowa city, great guy and very positive for being in the situation he is in. Hopefully one day soon he gets the kidney he needs.

Wish him well, hopefully he'll get the kidney and be ok.

My dad had a kidney transplant years ago...I'll never understand people who don't donate organs.

In the last few days there has probably been an organ match but since the person wasn't a donor they took that life saving kidney and put it in the ground to rot.
