Final BB Rankings

I didn't realize AP did a final rankings after the post season.

Did they rank Auburn 26th, just outside the top 25 for winning the NIT? lol

Coaches have us at 19, so its not all that outlandish given our tourney run.

I know we do not typically value final polls in basketball as we do in football, but this is damn impressive for a first year coach with a team with exactly 2 guys that ever had high major offers. Top 15 finish. Cannot wait to see what the future holds.

It does bother me a little they put us behind Nebraska. I would be ok with being in a lower spot as long as Nebraska was ranked behind Iowa. lol

We beat Nebbie in the one ranking that counts the most. We tore their hearts out and held it in front of their faces, Indiana Jones style, for the like 10th time in ten years.

Finished one spot ahead of the Lady Hawks. Who had that one pegged back in November? :)

Ahead of Alabama, Gonzaga, Kansas. A whole 10 spots ahead of Wisky. Of course they still had more wins against highly ranked teams but it isn't so much who you beat but when you beat them that leaves the impression. Recency bias for the win. :)

Hoops voters aren't any better then the football ones when it comes to head to head on everything evidently. Good grief

In fairness, by any objective measure, Nebbie had an overall better season than Iowa. Head to head is important, but only to break close ties. Nebbie was second in the conference, we were 10th. They beat Illinois and Michigan State and damn near took down Michigan. Our best two wins this season were against Nebbie. So, I don't have a problem with Nebbie being ahead of us.

Yeah it's all how you look at it. Big picture or how are they playing at the time in this case at the end. I just look at it as Iowa beat em 2 out of 3 times head to head most recently on the biggest stage on a (not so) neutral court. If the most recent head to head doesn't matter then what are we even doing?

Looking at the entire season. Look, it's debatable. They had the better overall season. I have no problem with where the two teams were ranked.

I am not disagreeing with Nebraska being higher ranked, but it should be noted that Iowa did manage to beat Florida.

Oh, what the hell! I love seeing Iowa ranked in the top echelon. As to poll credibility, I am 100% that these two are legit. So there.

I would say Iowa's Elite-8 run elevated the program to the #15 rung.

Without that, sporting a 10-10 conference record and only one B1G tourney win...we wouldn't have sniffed the top 25.

Those three wins carry a lot of polling-weight.

Yes, a #9 seed suggests an overall ranking of #33 at best.

"The AP encourages voters to base their votes on win-loss record, strength of schedule, quality wins and losses as well as overall team performance and consistency." So head to head is not encouraged. I'm sure the two wins vs. Nebraska and Florida helped them be so close but no issue if not enough to be ahead of them.

They got 1 vote and that would be number 40 lol.
