Neither one looked extremely sharp, lots a wobblers and missed targets , timing wasnt great either .This is with no real pressure. If it came down to who looked better it was probably Hank. Now saying this I dont mean to say they looked horrible but kind expected more hard accurate short passes and quicker releases . They did make some nice throws also. Looking for other opinions here

I liked Hecklinski better from the videos, especially his pocket presence/awareness, his quick release, and his timing on some of the in-breaking routes. I agree neither dazzled.

I went to the practice and thought Hecklinski looked slightly better. But as I've heard on a couple of podcasts, the offense that is run is very vanilla and the defense knows every play they run. I just think it's hard to get a real read on how good our QBs will be this season. No matter which one is starts it will take some time for him to round into form. Could make our opening three B1G games very challenging.

Good point on the defense knowing, wasnt criticizing as much as wondering what the take is generally, defense knew the plays pretty much and QB knew he wasnt going to get sacked so held the ball a little longer. just saw a lot of misses and or drops. but it is spring and they're not showing much at open practices. Did the freshman get any reps?

In the history of the Spring "Game" have we ever been wowed by a QB? Its just a terrible forum to judge how a QB will perform under pressure next season. At this stage, the best thing to focus on is the mental and details side of things. Are they getting the offense in and out of the huddle on time? Are there checks and cadences correct? Do they have good footwork in and out of the pocket? Do they make the right read? Whether they complete a pass, throw a wobbler or whatever the results are less important. The D is far ahead of the O in terms of readiness to play a real game. Its always that way.

Didn't take it as a criticism. I was just making a point. The freshman who stood out to me was Mason Woods. The TE room is loaded but he is going to be hard to keep off the field.

I remember the old days under Hayden Fry where for the spring game the first team offense would play against the 2nd team defense and vice versa. So of course the first team offense and first team defense looked great.

I have no doubt in my mind we will need two ready for the job, QB's this next year ,or every year in this league. Glad we have a couple that're are pretty even.

I have no idea what the "Wake & Jake CFB Show" is, and because my tech skills are minimal, this is being typed rather than copied and pasted. A fellow Hawk fan sent this to me by text. It's a ranking of the projected starting QBs for 2026. Let's hope this is pure garbage:
1 Dante Moore Oregon
2 Jayden Maleva USC
3 Julian Sayin OSU
4 Demond Williams Jr. Washington
5 Drake Lindsey Minnesota
6 Josh Hoover Indiana
7 Rocco Becht PSU
8 Malik Washington Maryland
9 Nico Iamaleava UCLA
10 Katin Houser Illinois
11 Anthony Colandrea Nebraska
12 Bryce Underwood Michigan
13 Dylan Lonergan Rutgers
14 Colton Joseph Wisconsin
15 Alessio Milivojevic MSU
16 Aiden Chiles Northwestern
17 Ryan Browne Purdue
18 Jeremy Hecklinski/Hank Brown Iowa

Maybe we're last because we're the only ones who haven't named a starter?

I would say that's fair given that Iowa has 2 QB's with almost no FBS game experience and the Iowa program itself has no recent history of developing QB's.

Ok, I gotta ask. What team is not going to want to get two ready for the job? If there is a team out there that only wants to get one, I really question the coach.

When having a QB challenge when one doesn't really separate themselves from the other, the question always enters if you have two bad or average QB's or two really good QB's.

Agreed. What is the old saying? If you have two QBs you have no QB. I think it is fair to rank Iowa last in QB given the status. That said, my Not So Hot Take is that the Iowa QB will not finish last in QB rankings next year. I am betting its Hecklinski and he is effective behind a good running game, improved WR play, and excellent TE play.

In reality we need 3ready to play ay any given moment (which we always do) its just the drop off of experience and reps.
