Just the normal purge and perfect routine of the Kirk Ferentz regime, every few years the program gets purged...and restarts with the "us against the world mentality" $10 says that next year is a repeat of 08. Rudock will push Vandy, and may overtake him at some point after a huge QB controversy until KOK becomes the hero and just plays Rudock.

Are you paying attention?

Look pal we only can use one rb at a time. So until Garmon cant go there is no reason for the Kirkken to focus on anyone else. If the past has shown Kirt Ference anything is that the rb position is not that important. You can easily pull in 5 or 6 in any recruiting class, so there is always time to reload if there was ever a problem.

I've had the chance to meet DJ a few times. He's a super, super nice kid. Seems bright. He's articulate and polite. I'm always pulling for him to do well on the field. Being a Hawkeye doesn't mean you have to break all the records and have the biggest following on facebook. It means you study, represent yourself and your school well, and do everything you can to excel on the field. Anyone who says he's no loss is viewing things through a very narrow lens. This isn't specific to DJ of course. It's shocking to see people hang these kids out to dry so easily. Thankfully it seems to be a very small subset of fans who feel the need to spout off on kids in a public forum.

This would not be a significant loss.

He is not a Big Ten-level player.

And you know this how? Based on a handful of carries (on which he actually looked pretty solid)? At this point, ANY loss at the RB position is huge.

Yeah, so solid that he was 5th on the depth chart going into the bowl game behind a 160 lb midget that ran for less than 60 yards, a fullback, a converted wide receiver, and a walk-on scrub from Dav North that left the program with a year of eligibility left because he knew he would never see the field.

1. Being small doesn't mean you can't be any good (see: Fred Russell, Darren Sproles, Barry Sanders, etc.).

2. Bullock was a running back that we were converting to a wide receiver, not the other way around. It wasn't like we were putting McNutt or Davis in the backfield.

3. Johnson was the team's third-leading rusher.

4. Rogers won't be getting snaps at tailback next year.

5. With all the defections at running back, ANY additional injury/transfer is VERY significant at this point, especially when there's no established go-to back.

6. If the coaches didn't feel he was a Big Ten-level player, they wouldn't have given him a scholarship. He's got potential, and that doesn't change just because he didn't explode onto the scene as a RS freshman.

The post says Deandre Johnson seeing rumors on other sites he may be next to leave." Is that a statement or a question? It implies to me that he is seeing elsewhere those rumors. Not that he is actually the instigator of them.
