I think that can be used but if Wadley and Butler are in there together, it's more likely one will be split out. The fullback isn't going anywhere, though, nor should it, IMO.

If I were just dispensing guys from this years Iowa Hawkeyes Football Team, this is definitely the fourteenth from the last guy that I would dispense with.

I disagree. It seems to me we run more play-action out of I-form than we do out of Ace and Far. We also have seen more 3 WR 2 RB sets in recent years, as well as splitting the TE out off the LOS in I-form. And even when we are running the ball with a FB, their presence is usually a positive addition. Many of our long runs in 2015 were sprung directly because of a great block by the FB (Plewa deserves a lot of credit for Canzeris long TDs against nebby as he just crushes his man on those plays).

I also may be biased since I love watching good FB play, but having one of these two on the field is a big advantage for our run game imo.

A good fullback is a great thing to have. If anything I'd like to see us run more plays for them be it on short yardage or even in the passing game now and then. What happened to the Tom Rathman type of FBs (first name that came to mind) that could both block LBs and be an option on offense in the passing game. What makes Iowa predictable to me is when you have a guy out there like that who is ONLY going to be blocking. Show on tape at least early on that they can get a touch or two. There's plenty of times where you can get them open in the flat for a solid gain if you'd just target them... Which is a way easier throw ( unless your JC) than some of the ones they routinely try forcing to WRs on the outside.

Agree, someone needs to put together a FB crushing block video. Our fullbacks are as good as any in college FB at this. Below is an Akrum Wadley highlight video from last year and 1/3 of the plays had a punishing block by our FB. Specifically at ...
