Connor and CC

Temper, yes. Cold personality, no way. Outside of a basketball setting, he was a cool guy. He was everyone's buddy at high school baseball games.

I think part of the issue was how differently he behaved around media, and how little interest he had in doing the fan-engagement stuff. If he is warm and personable around HS coaches and HS athletes, but a dick to local media with no interest in broader fan engagement, it feels completely transactional.

We have been spoiled by ultra-personable coaches like KF, Bluder, and Jensen. I am sure there is a transactional nature to their interactions as well, but they can "fake it" much better when needed. I have also seen KF talk for an hour+ at a coaches' clinic when he was just supposed to show up and wave. He also has an encyclopedic memory of names, faces, and backstories. If he is faking all of that, give the man an Oscar.

Thinking about personable coaches...who is the most charismatic coach you have ever been around? Head coach, assistant, any sport, any level, someone you played for, or simply someone you just met...which person could do the best job of convincing you to run through a wall for them?

Steve Alford...lol! I don't know about charisma, but Tom Davis is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Talked to him a few times on the golf course. Humble, kind...cool dude. Hayden's long time defensive coordinator, Bill Brashier, was a humble southern gentleman. He was a quiet man but churned out some damn great defenses.

This might get some hate, but Bruce Pearl. He used to run the Iowa basketball camp for Tom Davis back in the late 80s. I went a few years, back when I was in 5th through 7th grade or so.

Dude was electric, even compared to other Iowa assistants and various high school and college coaches from around the country who were there as counselors.

Everybody loved him. Opened the fountain drinks in the dorm at night and had the Mountain Dew flowing for his kids. Players' coach from day 1. I'm not sure that it's all good, but it's easy to see how that personality could run for the US Senate.

Any college kid would love to play for him. Love to.

Not to me, but everyone has different taste. If you cut her hair and made her taller she'd be Nicholas Baer's twin but with Garza's eyebrows. That's not a look I'm into.

CM definitely saw dollar signs first, a rich kid like him could easily have some bleach blonde fitness trainer type thing following him around if he wanted it.
Shaq told his kids, "We ain't rich. I'm rich."
