The Hawks just weren’t ready to play tonight. Doesn’t help that McCabe is out and that Addie was probably too hyped up playing back in California. Flush it regroup and upset UCLA.

One thing I wish Jan would tell Addie is to stop forcing it in the lane! Shoot the perimeter shot. I don't think she tried it once. Freshman growing pains is hard to watch.

Iowa averages 15 TOs a game, so not that far above our average. And most of Iowa's TOs have been unforced all season.
I'm not sure about the 'special' part. USC doesn't have a lot of interior height, but their guards are long and were deadly from 3 tonight. They may not lose many more games in the BTen -- the tough part of their schedule is over.
Sometimes ya just gotta tip your hat. USC coaches came out with a unique defensive game plan which worked -- Jan was simply outcoached in this one. Combine that with USC's talent -- how many players on their team do you think will play in the WNBA, compared to Iowa? -- and they were simply the better team tonight. If these teams played 10 times on a neutral court, pretty sure the Trojans would win more than half.
It'll be interesting to see if these teams meet each other again in the BTen tourney.
One of the surprising, and most disappointing, things about Stuelke's game is her inability to nail shots from the corner of the FT line, where she often finds herself with the ball and with defenders sagging off her. You'd think over the 3 summers she's been at Iowa she would get together with a shooting coach and put up about 500 of those a day. Same with FTs. What a difference in her game if she did.

I couldn't see any real game plan by usc coaches other than putting a taller player on Chit Chat. USCs coach is terrible but I suppose since Jan sucked tonight you could say that. usc shot the ball very well and I'll give them that for sure. It was there and they shot it.
As far as their players going to the W I'd say wait and see how many transfer first. How many do you think will be in the W? JuJu is it and maybe Dunn.

Well, it worked just fine for Deal against Ohio St. But yeah, against USC, didn't work at all.
Still, I was surprised at the limited number of minutes that Deal got against USC, just 17 minutes. Not much more than when McCabe was healthy.
They may want to start Stremlow and bring Addie Deal off the bench against UCLA. She's playing near her home against the number 2 team. Take some pressure off her.
