BTen women hoops teams bomb at NCAAs.

3 weeks prior to Selection Sunday, 7 BTen women's teams were listed in the Top 16 released by the Selection Committee. By Selection Sunday, that number had dropped to 5, but comments from Committee members made it clear they thought the BTen conference was the toughest conference in the country this season.

So, the BTen entered the tourney with 5 teams favored to make the Sweet 16. They got in only 3, with Iowa and Ohio St. both bowing out early. Pretty lame showing, and clearly the BTen wasn't as formidable as thought. This can happen if a conference's teams get ranked early, then start beating each other -- their ranking doesn't drop, and it makes it difficult for other teams to break into the rankings.

I think the SEC got in 6, and even the ACC and Big East got in as many as the BTen. So once again it looks like the SEC was the cream of the crop this season, from a depth perspective.

If you would have told me that the BTen conference would get 6 men's teams into the Sweet 16, while the BTen women only got 3 -- I would have said you were nuts.

Seems to be the opposite for the SEC. SEC Men are not doing as well as predicted while the SEC women are doing better than expected.

Was actually a little underwhelmed by So Car this year. They were younger and not as completely dominant as in years past. All relative, of course but just didn’t seem to have “it”.
If Iowa would’ve just been Iowa (instead of some upside down world jr high version that possessed them the first 2 rounds) was okay facing So Car for the region over other 3 teams.

But at least So Car did manage to beat UConn in the final 4, which was a big surprise.

The final 4 games and NCG were kinda a dud this year, with the losing team scoring less than 52 points in all 3 games. Looked a little too much like WNBA games where the players get mugged on every play.

UCLA's beat down of USC made Iowa's season losses to the Bruins much easier to accept. Did anyone notice that Virginia, who knocked Iowa out of the tourney, fired their coach. Sounds pretty ugly, toxic environment and all of that.
