saw on Face Book from a former Hawkeye football player and from a former Iowa coach that Bob is in hospice care and is surrounded by his loved ones. Doesn't sound good for him. Prayers to him and his family.

Correct, he has been ill off and on for a long time from news reports. His illness might have kept him from being considered as Hayden's replacement iirc.

Had he not fallen ill in '98, I believe he would have succeeded Hayden as head coach.
