Big Ten Women's Tourney

The Iowa women's basketball team will be the #2 seed in the Big Ten Tourney this weekend to be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Iowa recieved a double bye and will first play approx around 5:30 PM on Friday. They play the winner of the MSU-Illinois game from Thur, assuming Illinois first beats Wisc on Wed.

If Iowa wins on Friday, they will likely play #3 seed Michigan, in a game that would most likely determine the top #2 seed in the NCAA tourney.

The Big Ten has so many good teams, you have to figure any team in the top 12 seeds has a chance to pull a big upset. Illinois and Mich St are both good teams, so there is no certainty Iowa will win on Friday. Hopefully Hannah Stuelke will be recovered and rested enough from her upper body to go for 3 straight days if necessary.

Illinois survives late run against Mich St 71-69 in Thursday game, setting up a rematch of last week's ILL-Iowa game on Friday.

The Big question is will Hannah Stuelke be playing for Iowa on Friday. I have to be honest. Jan's comments did not sound very optimistic earlier this week. I am starting to get the feeling Hannah may miss the entire Big Ten Tourney, which will give Hannah another 2 weeks to recover.

Illannoy going on 3 in a row.
Was hoping for overtime to tire them a bit more.

Not a good matchup for Iowa guards but they shot out of their skulls at Carver and pretty good tonight, too. Thinking a bit colder tomorrow.

If Hannah can go (she was huge in beating them), Hawks will win by 8-12. If not, another nail biter.

Journey and The Gal from Alaska gonna have to step up and Ada has to stay out of foul trouble

The Hawks can probably beat any team other than UCLA

Things are set up for a UCLA vs Iowa championship game

If Hannah is out, Mallegni could see some serious minutes again like she got against Wisc. Mallegni and Hays both had good games against Wisc, maybe they can do it again against the Illini.

I am nervous about the IL game- they played us tough, and they have a lot to gain from beating us. On the other hand, 3rd game in 3 days, gotta be some tired legs.....

Gonna order up some delivery pizza and chill the beer in the fridge!

Yes, Illinois has some good young freshman players and they have improved quite a bit in the last month. I believe next year they will be one of the Big Ten's top teams.

Let's hope they don't shoot 11/19 on their 3s again.

Yeah, playing defense against the 3 pt shot might help us a tad.........................doesnt sound like we will see Hannah today, and that wont help. Guess if it came down to it, rather have Hannah at full strength for the NCAA tourney

Good game in tourney going on right now. #5 seed Ohio St vs #4 seed Minn. Winner will take on #1 UCLA tomorrow.

Right now Minn leads 22-20 in 2Q. Both teams are good enough to win the entire tourney IMHO.

Ohio St ends up beating Minn by 5 points. Ohio St will play UCLA in the semifinals tomorrow.
