Big recruiting weekend .

I'll preface this by saying I don't think he ends up here. The national consensus seems to be that he's going to Miami.

However...

Run BMC is a different animal.

1) I don't think BMC is the type of coach who would waste time and money on someone he thought had a less than 25% chance of committing. There's too much to get done in the recruiting season and not enough time to get it done.

2) I also don't think he'd waste his time with the type of recruit who'd yank his chain and string him along. I do think BMC has the ability to see through that type of kid.
Yup.

Just saw this thread. LOL. Big D sending this kid to OSU to play football.

Fry, I agree with your earlier take. Ben would not be going all in on this kid unless he believed it was at least a coin flip or better. If you are a high end athlete coming out of school right now, you are going to get paid. Maybe you can get 10% more at a different school, but you also have to think of who is going to get you to the next level. Ben has a lot to sell on that front with some very recent history. That said, we are competing with South Beach and you know this kid is being offered a big bag of cash and access to a yacht if he commits to the Canes.

Well, I Love what Ben is doing and has done, but he's only put one kid in the NBA.

He spent almost his entire career in D2. Even then, he had PGs playing in Europe.
Well, my point was He really can't use the NBA as a big selling point to kids right now. He can as long as the Bennet's memory still exist. That'll fade off 4 years from now unless Bennet breaks out and keeps his name in the news cycle or he gets a couple more guys drafted in between. His selling point is that he WINS you can goggle it!! (Sorry that I went there lol). But that's what he has to sell these kids now. He doesn't have the biggest pocket full of NIL money so we will get kids that want to develop and win.

You know this is a basketball thread, right?
Yep that's what I get while trying to post on my iPhone. The ad ware on my iPhone when visiting Hawkeye Nation is among the worst I have seen on any of the sports cites I visit. Ads on the top, bottom, and sides on my iPhone. This causes issues when you go to choose the different forums. Jumps the page just as you go to push the football forum and then you end up unintentionally in the basketball forum.

Iowa's last final four only had one legit star and that was Ronnie Lester. The rest were just regular average players at best. Lute knew how to get the best out of his players and taught them to play as a team. I see that in Ben.

Krafcisn and Arnold were pretty good players too. A young Hansen right there probably got the most NBA time
Thanks for reminding me and pointing out Hansen I had forgotten about him playing out here in Utah for the Jazz. In a conversation with the Jazz's BIG Center, Mark Eaton, Mark asked me about Bobby's career as an Iowa player.

And he's coached for a total of one year. If he keeps up that average, they will come.
Right! The one came from one class since 2024 at Drake and 1 year at Iowa. Who is pumping out a bunch of NBA'er from Division II like we should hold that against him. All those NBA level guys who are staying at the lower level (not) he should have had like a dozen guys lol.
