Iowa basketball commit turns in elite RL Hoops Circuit performance

Iowa commit Keller Daugherty put together a great game in his 2026 RL Hoops Circuit debut.

I’ll believe it the minute I see him set foot on a court in an Iowa jersey; not a minute before.

All this is gonna do is make the bags he’ll get offered from other schools get bigger. Maybe the kid will stay committed…I don’t know. But money talks and they can walk away at literally any time before or after playing here. Iowa will likely have to sweeten the deal if he keeps making waves.

And this isn’t an indictment of the kids necessarily…they’re following the money and doing what’s best for themselves because almost none of them will ever get an NBA contract. They’ll make WAAAAY more money in college.

This is just part of the game now and getting excited about players before they’re here (or after they’re here and have a good season) is a fools errand. Remember we got Hausen that way. And Folgueiras. And McKeever. And Coleman. It’s a necessary evil unfortunately and makes following recruiting pointless.

That was actually my first thought when I read the story. With the way things are now, it's ironic that the more excited you get about a recruit, the more angst you feel.

I have no insider information, but I cannot believe that there is an anounced commitment, presumably that involves a commitment from Iowa or its donors or both on NIL dollars, that doesn't have a contract. There is too much money at stake to just hope that the kid honors his verbal word. If there is a contract, there is a buy out. So, this kid not only has to get a better offer, but then pay to get out of his contract with Iowa. That all could still happen, of course.

Again, I don't know how all of this shit is working, but people who deal in six and seven figure financial transactions almost never do that without written contracts and without protections within the contracts.
