Batter the Bitter Buckeyes to the Bottom of the Gates of Hell Game Thead

Yeah I'd only add if they take a half step back it'd be that it's just tough losing a ball dominant guard as good as Stirtz. Not all pgs are created equal even if you can shop at the highest shelf for them. They could level up at a couple other spots but if the PG spot is a huge drop off we'll feel it. It'll just be interesting to see how fans react to the ebbs and flows of having a new coach rebuilding in todays landscape
I could go with a Bruce Thornton, Nick Boyd type of guard.

If Iowa takes a step back next year (and I believe they will), it will be because of NIL limitations, not BMC's ability to coach.

It's is just the world we live in right now, you have to play the cards you got.

This season has been a success no matter what happens from here on out.
I think his ability to coach will help him the problem is losing Stirtz and no one with experience to replace him. my biggest disappointment of the season is no consistent second scorer has emerged. There may be a couple that have the ability but no one has shown to be able to average 15 and 5 every game this year and next year we need either someone to average around 20 or have more than one guy consistently average double digits. Maybe the portal can help, I think Ben has the ability to coach several players styles as long as defense is priority

Also, had to hear everyone clammer for Hausen all fucking year and

I was one in latter half - mostly to give him a shot when Koch couldn't spit in the toilet. Knew was wrong when he finally got so many mins (was it Penn St?) and he crapped out.
Didn't watch any of today (listened till about 5 mins into 2nd). Caught last 2 mins at fitness center and watched his ridiculously rushed heave ... Not sad he's gone.

Boy howdy. If they only grew on trees. Or Wagler. Ben was hot on his tails when he was at Drake initially I guess. IL won out though. It'll be an interesting portal season. Ben will be big game hunting.

If Walger doesn't go, can we get back in on Coleman? We're on his list, but I don't think we have much of a chance.

Anyone suggesting that McCollum is producing a similar product as Fran is out to lunch. He did this in his first season after completely turning over the roster. If he wins one game in the tourney, he will have achieved the highest level of success Fran ever achieved. I was a Fran supporter, and still believe he was good for Iowa during his tenure. But, Ben is going to compete for championships and tournament runs. That guy is wired differently. He wins.

Also, no reason to get boat raced by Michigan
Still lets say that happened. I'd rather be 2-1 in the BTT than 1-1 even if we got boat raced. While I get that view I don't subscribe to it :)

I had looked back on last years team cause I knew they got squashed more times than this years team but I didn't remember what the last one was, the team let alone the score, so who really remembers the scores after a while more than the record and the advance?

I was thinking/predicting to myself 23-13 with 2-1 in the BTT and 1-1 in the Big Dance. So now if I am still right on the second half we would be 22-13 and not hit the 10 games over mark. Perhaps they can still hit it by going 2-1 in the Dance. Let's see the draw they get but that would seem to be the tougher road. Face it OSU was was actually still beatable and possible weaker than what we might face in the second round even if they played a good game.

I actually think this hurts worse than a U of M boat racing would. We don't have those horses yet. Neither the quickness or the height so it is gravy and a loss to a top team doesn't hurt so much as one closer to our level. OSU was there still for the taking at 70-69 and those almost close ones can hurt more cause you could of had them. Against Michigan winners of how many straight? you expect and it is more acceptable to get the L.

Anyway, let's hope for the 2-1 and that elusive sweet 16 appearance in year one! 23 wins and a sweet 16 in the first season with mostly MVC guys migrating over to the newer and bigger Big 10. If they do it I don't think we will see any more of the comments making out that this is just the same as Fran's teams.

Early but Michigan turning the tables on OSU. FG 28.6% for OSU and 70% from the field for Michigan leading by 9. OSU still shooting crap from 3 early at 14%. Could be they can't shoot over Michigan's height or they just had that hot game yesterday and don't have that again today. Not actually watching it to see if the shots are just not falling or being altered and challenged better by Michigan. :)

I listened to his post game with Dolph. He didn’t sugarcoat losing. He just has a different temperament than we are used to. He is just going to work like hell to win. The big question that exists is can he get enough players to do it? We don’t have enough coming back. Hope he can find a couple difference makers in the portal
