Back at Quarterback, Ryan Boyle Still Pushing for Playing Time

Ryan Boyle isn't talked about as it pertains to Iowa's quarterback competition but the sophomore from Dowling Catholic is pushing hard to get into the mix:

I don't think the coaches will consider him as a starter . . . but as I said in a different thread, he's got skillz . . . design some plays for a DT QB and see what he can do. Rival coaches heads would explode if Iowa demonstrated it could do the unpredictable. Once their head explodes, then you're basically playing against a snake without a head. And since snakes don't have arms or legs, and they can't speak English, and they don't know what a football is, you've increased your chances against UNI . . . I mean UNT.

If BF does anything as innovative as using Boyle or any athletic QB in a wildcatish type of role or using them to run I'd be pleasantly surprised. I mean if you do that do you bust it out for a single play a game? An entire series/possession? I dunno if there's a scenario where his KF would get down with anything like that. A double reverse to a WR or flea flicker is about as exotic as we've ever seen KF get.... But if anyone could be allowed to experiment here and there it'd be BF... So we'll see.

Imo, if Boyle wanted to play QB he should have went to Kansas State. Because of his build and skill set he would be like every other KSU QB the last 15 years. I was hoping the wr thing would work out for him. 3rd and 4 stick him in the slot and have him sit down in a zone for a 7 yd. catch. It isn't sexy, but he could give you 20-30 catches a year by simply doing that.
