Nope. Call it luck, call it circumstance. We are already in the club.

Yep. We are in the clubhouse. The only way Iowa is left behind is if the two big conferences somehow lose power. Right now, the SEC and Big10 Commissions run college football. I don't see them ceding that power anytime soon. The only way something might change is if the conferences hold fast to even revenue splits and the big boys get restless. I could envision a scenario where the OSU's and Texas' of the world break away from conference affiliations and simply start a semi-pro league with a limited number of seats. I think Iowa is included if its roughly the size of the NFL. If it were more like 24, it could get dicey.

Again, this is a highly remote and theoretical scenario that I cannot see happening, but if you would have told me in 2020 what college football would look like today.....

I've stated this before and I stand by it...

The NCAA should adopt the regional NFL model and eliminate any nonsensical conferences. The days of USC/UCLA playing MD/Rutgers would end...for the better.

Bring back the regional competition which actually means something to fan bases. Select the playoff teams from these quadrants.

I recognize two major sticking points

#1--You need one commissioner to run the whole thing. I don't see the B1G or SEC commissioners giving up power for example.

#2--What to do with the money-grab conference championship games? Greed still rules the day in that arena.

The NFL still has a conference championship. Its just part of the playoffs.

I am actually okay with the two mega conferences Big 10 and SEC, each having playoffs to determine a conference championship, and then the winners of each play for the Nattie. It works just fine in the NFL. I am sure the SEC would complain and say they have the best 5 teams in all of college football, and it isn't fair, but the same can be true in the NFL. Over time, that shit evens out.

I would be OK with Stanford and Cal. Would fill out the new "B10 West" with some quality programs.

I think this will happen. Excellent schools academically with some bright moments in sports. Would help immensely in scheduling those west coast games and help to create divisions which I think will be coming similar to an NFL model
