MSU beats Purdue which should punch their ticket to the NCAA tourney.

Penn St up over Wisc. early 16-2.... some suprises going on.
This has been a great weekend of college bb,cept for Iowa's loss of course.
Big Ten: PSU,Michigan and MSU all enhanced their chances to make the NCAA,big time. Michigan and MSU have locked it up,and as of this morning,Lunardi has PSU as the last team in....now clearly that is precarious,but if they should beat MSU,they will make it....I am a Big Ten fan,and more teams in is fine with me(cept for the Illini..if they get left out,I will smile).
I always talk about the ''senior bump'' and I think we see that with PSU...they really gutted out that win over Wisky,with those 4 seniors really going for that bid.
I think also that once again,we see the benefit of playing,and winning(no matter how ugly) in day one of the tourny when day two rolls around. MSU and PSU got off to huge starts,like Miami did vs UNC, against teams that are cold. It is great because it lends to a lot of day 2 upsets. NW also benefited but fell short vs OSU...barely.
So, day 3 begins,and I really like these two games on tap. OSU probably gets back in the groove vs Michigan,but the Wolves are playing with house money at this point,and they are hot ....9-3 in their last 12...after starting 1-6 in the league? Nuts.
PSU needs this game,and MSU is banged up,bigtime,with Lucas very gimpy.
I think this will be a close game,with PSU pulling it out...rooting for them.
The Big East had two OT semis last nite...awesome finishes.
Once again,I am on record the last 3-4 years as feeling that this weekend is better than the first weekend of the NCAA tourny....just more evenly matched games with conference teams that know each other so well. About half of the NCAA games on first weekend are total blowouts featuring teams I do not know nor care about. Give me league tournys anyday...of course in weekend 2 of the NCAA it improves bigtime.
As Gottleib said yesterday, really,the conference tournys are the first two rounds of the NCAA tourny...every single Div 1 team gets a chance to play their way into the Big Dance....like in high school tournys in Iowa....I love this weekend!!
