UNC did have a very good D ... however, their statistical production was a bit padded due to their schedule. Don't forget that they played TWO D1 FCS school in their OOC schedule in '09 and furthermore the ACC didn't have a terribly impressive year either. In 2010, their OOC schedule is a good bit tougher ... with them playing against LSU at a neutral location, playing AT Rutgers, and playing a pretty tough ECU squad. Heck, they play William & Mary as their D1 FCS foe ... and that squad is A LOT better than either Citadel or Georgia Southern (the FCS foes that UNC beat up on last year).
Anyhow, I have trouble seeing the ACC be any worse than they were last year ... as a result, I have trouble seeing UNC being the team to beat in ACC in '10. Virginia Tech and Miami should both be pretty decent, Clemson could still enter into the picture, and if ACC Ds continue to struggle in their preparations for Georgia Tech ... Georgia Tech will continue to have success. Heck, Georgia Tech could be scary-good in that conference if prowess on D matched their prowess on O.
