Definitely like the more fouls to give inside aspect. We didn't have that luxury last year , two quick ones on Cam and we were small for a lot of minutes, same with banks

I agree,

Many Iowa fans were willing to throw Garza under the bus during his freshmen year and then jump in the bus and be the driver to do it.

During his freshmen season I openly stated (Like that old sportscaster used to say "not so fast my friend" that I saw greatness in him and I predicted at that time that by the end of his Junior season and all of his senior year as a Hawkeye center that he would become one the premier center's in the Big Ten.

I am sure many here on Hawkeyenation were thinking at the time I said that...... "let's meet up at Big D's house and smoke whatever he is smoking."

Garza had some good minutes the the 6th game of the Celtics-Sixers 6th game at Philadelphia

He played 14 minutes....9 points...4-5 on FGs....1-2 on 3s...2 offensive rebounds and 1 assist

In addition to playing a solid floor game, playing solid D

Celts cut into the Sixers lead when he was on the floor

My dad was from Boston and we used to watch the Celtics vs Philadelphia Warriors games when I
was growing up in Philadelphia

I saw Garza's potential as a freshman, he just needed actual game experience and I saw the potential in
his high school game videos

Wasn't cutting down Jirak at all, I think he has very good potential Just commenting on his next steps forward. I've been watching Iowa Bigs since Lute. Acie Earl didn't look good his first couple years Guy Rucker, Garza the same on and on. Jirak has a big butt (maybe why I said he looked awkward at times) and when he figures out how to use it, he'll be fine maybe even better than just fine. He never hurt us on the floor last year and very limited minutes. Nothing makes me happier than having a 6 10 big body FROM Iowa that wants to be a Hawkeye !!!

I think it was prior to the Illinois Elite 8 game one of the TV announcers said Iowa coaches had told them "don't be surprised if you see an unexpected player have a big game." I noticed Jirak was put in the game earlier than usual, and took a couple 3pt shots pretty quickly. I suspect part of Iowa's game plan was to have him nail a couple 3s, draw Illinois' bigs out of the lane to cover him, and go from there. Jirak must have been hitting those treys in practice, but unfortunately he missed 'em in the game, and that was that.

That’s awesome. I spent two weeks in Philly for specialized training for the government. What was really cool was they set my lodging up in the historical part of Philly. My wife was able to come along with me and we really enjoyed seeing the historical sites. Even walked around at night on tours given ghost tellers going back to the Warrs and soldiers killed back then. I was surprised at some of the poorer parts of the city with how much trash was lying around on the streets and sidewalks. Over all it was a great experience. While I was in training my wife was back at the hotel preparing and studying for her nursing exam to qualify for her nursing license that was coming up shortly when we got back home. She needed the quiet time away from our three children to prepare. She passed the bar with a score in the 90’s.

I really like the Philly cheese steak sandwiches there.

Its hard to get the image out of my head of him getting trucked in the lane full speed during March Madness and no foul being called....
