Anyone here into 3D printing?

I know about 0% about 3D printing, but it sounds interesting.
It's been a blast in these past two weeks.

What are you going to print, and why?
Bought it with the intent to first customize (and optimize) my tool box storage, knowing there were tons of other things I could and would do.

I've been deep diving learning CAD (Fusion software) and that's honestly been just as fun. GF and I have no kids at home or anything, i.e. I have lots of free time, so there have been several multi hour sessions on YouTube learning both the software and drafting in a conceptual sense. So many really good resources out there for free. Right now I don't have a dual monitor setup in the room I'm printing in so I have a tablet going on one side with YouTube and Gemini while I work in the software on my laptop.

This is turning out to be a hobby I think I'll spend an enormous amount of time on. I really enjoy it so far.

The stuff I've done with it and intend to do would make a 10,000 word post so feel free to ask any questions. There are really two main types of people in the 3D printing world. One is the type to make goofy trinkety toys and art pieces like cosplay, fidget toys, figurines, etc., and the other are people who make mostly functional items whether it's someone else's designs or their own designs through CAD. I am firmly in the latter group.

I will also say this...AI is a HUUUUUGE learning aid. If I get stumped on something that I can't figure out on my own I just ask it in a conversational way and it walks you through it no lickety split. It's honestly insane what having an AI model whether it's Gemini, ChatGPT, or CoPilot does for your speed of learning and bring the learning curve into manageable territory.

I know of 3D printing and understand it similar to my understanding of cryptocurrency. I know of it but don't really understand it on the deep dive.

I thought maybe you have aspirations of building a home with it!

I saw a story on a development in Texas where all the homes are being 3D printed/constructed.
Seen that as well. I remember watching a YT video where somewhere over in Europe they were doing that with concrete on foundations instead of cinder blocks or pouring concrete. It looked like a Dairy Queen soft serve machine sliding along on rails putting down layers of concrete.
