Another WR gone

Ronald Nash is leaving the program. Kicker Mick Ellis is as well.

Anyone know, is Coach K back at Iowa coaching WR this time?

I think Iowa had like 4 kickers last year and the guy did great last year so I think pulled ahead. Hopefully have even better WR talent coming in, at least promising, so I think would AT LEAST be equiv to Nash. Wish them both well.

I understand some of the frustration, but let's see if Brian and Kok can liven up the offense a little and make the game fun again. If not then heads should roll, can Barta, get a whole new board of regents, can KF and entire staff. However let's see be fair first and see if things change. Really could it be any worse.

One heck of an opportunity for the incoming freshmen to make a splash. They should work their tails off.

eh.... Nash might have been nice to have around but they already had a handful of kickers. Just another day. I doubt it's a grades issue with Nash. He's been around a couple yrs already hadn't he? Usually if grades are an issue they pop up pretty early on. Not necessarily all the time but just seems like it anyway

I really don't find any humor in it. That's just me.

The kid walked on and worked hard for two seasons.

My intent was not to pinpoint on Ronald Nash himself at all, when I read it, made me think of the struggles of all Iowa receivers having difficulty creating separation the last couple years. More a systemic program issue, no individual per se.

As stated above in my first post, I wish him well. I was no Div 1 talent, so I am not one to judge those who work their behinds off and who have made a Div 1 roster.

Fair enough. The post to which you were referring was a shot at Nash. That's what I was pointing out. And, it received three likes.

Admittedly, I'm a little more sensitive to personal shots at players than most. I just don't like it.

Thanks for the link. Yes, I have a special appreciation for young individuals battling through that kind of situation. I lost my mother to breast cancer when I was 14. She was 40. One does have to mature fast.

Question. Did he ever get on Scholarship? Wonder if still walk on status played in his decision to leave the program, that if he could be offered a scholarship elsewhere.

To my knowledge, he still was walking on. I think he just wants to focus on his studies without the football commitment. He's looking at his future.

Sorry to hear about your mother. I can't imagine how tough that must be.

Yes, I try not to pinpoint players and I never "liked" the post. I may critique the program as a whole and offer my opinions about the program, but I can't pinpoint players when I NEVER got to that level of play. Hypocrisy. Everyone should read the link, especially those making jokes at his expense. People may change their tune.

Didn't seem to me that Nash played enough last year to determine whether he couldn't get separation or drop passes. Best of luck to him.

Actually, I think it could be a lot worse this year than any other year under GDGD.....and 2012, and last year were some of the worst I've ever seen. But let's not forget 2007 under KOK was one of the worst offenses too. What do we have in common with 2007....

Two QB's who've taken very few live snaps. One who appeared to be ahead of the curve by stripping the redshirt, but now apparently it's too close to call going into Fall Camp. We had high hopes for JC, being a dual threat, and a DECENT performance against Northern Illinois in 2006. If we go off of what we saw in Spring Camp, neither of these QB's could hit the broad side of a barn.....

One WR on the roster who has made a catch in a game. Do we know how JVB is progressing with his injury? Is this an injury that's prone to flaring up? We know nothing else about the WR on the roster, other than a few of them are probably OK with their blocking since they saw the field last year.

I think our OL, Run Game and Tight Ends will do what they always have done. But if you're an opposing defense, does anything besides Wadley scare you?

This could be really, really bad. To be fair, I felt that way going into 2015 with how poor the OL looked in scrimmages. That year turned out just fine, minus the Rose Bowl....

I don't know if we have a player like CJ on this roster though. Guess that's why they play the games

This made me go back to look at the post and who posted it. Makes total sense. I hear he was a stud and totally has room to make fun of D1 athletes.

Long standing rule to not take shots at players, but let's be real here, that poster's next non-disparaging post, will be his first.
