Another mid-major "powerhouse" ducking a BCS team

I don't think it's a bad excuse at all. I don't blame them for turning it down without the opportunity to host them the next year.

Wisconsin wanted a Madison home game for the first weekend of next season. No home game for TCU was offered in return. One game and done with series. Wisconsin was just trying to get a chance to save face!

Everyone knows that person that just can move on after they get beat. Have to have another chance, under their rules to save face. Apparently, Brett B is one of those folks.

Next he'll be wanting a chance to re-recruit last months LOI players that got away to other schools. :)

Agreed. I'm sick of BCS teams treating the schools like TCU and BSU like second class citizens. Play a home and home for crying out loud. And DON'T give me the money excuse for Wisconsin. They played at UNLV last year, and TCU's stadium is bigger than UNLV's (meaning more money in a road game for Wisky if they played in Fort Worth).

TCU turns down offer of Rose Bowl rematch vs. Wisconsin - ESPN Dallas

Does this surprise anyone? They want a return game which if I were the AD at Wisky I would have given them but still what a **** poor excuse for ducking a BCS school.

Not "ducking" at all ... it seems like they'd just want a home-home series with Wisky instead. Nothing wrong with that. Quite frankly, it doesn't make sense for TCU to "give away" possible home games like that ... at least if they don't get a home game back in the deal. It's basic finance here folks ....

Some of you have no insight at all do you?

"Del Conte said plans for a potential home-and-home series were never discussed." Do you know what that means? Or is English a 2nd language?

Wisky (Bielema) wanted to play them on national TV to open the season, he said yes immediately. TCU didn't want to risk a loss and thus knocking them out of a backdoor BCS game so they ducked the game by saying they wanted a home and home and yet it was never discussed. The TCU AD admitted it or implied it because this: "but rather that the one-time meeting would not produce a return game in Fort Worth."

So the TCU AD says he wants Wisconsin to come the following year, and that means they're scared of losing? To a team they already beat?

Yeah so like everyone said it was an offer for one game in Madison. TCU said no, like pretty much every BCS conference teams would have done too. And there was no discussion of a return game.

Why didn't Bielema and Wisconsin immediately offer to go to Texas next year to play them? Looks like Wisconsin was ducking this as much as TCU was.

LOL! And why was that? It's called context. TCU knew that Wisky was shopping around for a game because UNLV was trying to back out of a game with them. TCU didn't want to be a "sloppy second" for a Wisky HOME game ... an opening that DID NOT leave the door open for a home-home. The intention was for the game to be a ONE-GAME affair from the outset.

I don't think anybody is really ducking anybody. Some goon calls up Bielema about a single-game rematch, and he gets all giddy and screams yes. The same goon calls the TCU AD and the AD actually has enough intelligence to question the details. Seeing that his school will not reap the rewards of having Wisconsin at their place, he declines.

Oh, and then there's that whole thing where TCU already has somebody on their schedule for the first game of the season.

So? That's a minor detail. These small schools need to man up and play some big boys if they want to be taken seriously. What, you think it's too much for TCU to play a double header that day? These kids are 18-22 year olds, they should be in the best shape of their lives, they can handle it.

Boise State is a second class citizen.

If Wisconsin really wanted to play TCU next year, why didn't the Badgers agree to go to Fort Worth.

TCU isn't ducking anybody.

This just in. Missouri wants a rematch with Iowa in Columbia next year, one game only. No other games in the following years. According to your rationale, Iowa would be ducking Missouri if they declined to go to Columbia.

If the loser wants a rematch they better be willing to travel.

Would Ohio State agree to go to Fayetteville & Auburn agree to go to Eugene for only a one game series.

TCU is joining the Big East in 2012...I don't think the term "mid major" applies to them anymore. They lined up and beat a great Wisconsin team in the Rose Bowl and are joining a BCS conference, they've done enough to not be called "mid major" anymore

I would rank TCU way above Boise regardless....but they are joining the Big East...I've always associated Boise with the trick play and kind of fluky undefeated seasons....TCU I've just always liked. And like someone said they are def not a "mid-major" anymore....they just play in the weakest BCS conference now lol.
