Folgueiras apparently got $3.7M from Louisville. Iowa was willing to pay him the same number as last season, but no more. That's from someone within the program.

Louisville took out something like a $25M loan. They were already having financial issues. Their only hope now is a deep run in football or basketball and major donations flowing as a result. Or huge reform coming to college athletics very soon. I wouldn't bet on either, but they sure did.

I just don't see how this makes financial sense for Louisville. He hit a huge shot for us last year in the tournament, as has been well documented. But his overall performance for the entire year did not warrant that type of a payout. But I don't blame him one bit for taking it.
