All-KF Era Team: TE

Which 2 TEs from the KF era would you want on your team for a season?

Although my head says take Dallas Clark and T.J. Hockeson, the 2 Mackey Award winners, my heart wants to take Hockeson and Fant together, because they played together and got drafted in the 1st round in the same draft. But then Fant's brother (or was it his father?) Was whining publicly about Fant not getting as many snaps as he should and then Fant skipped the bowl game.

But I am going to do it anyway. Hockeson and Fant together forever

1. T.J. Hockeson
2. Noah Fant.

I think I would pick the 2 guys with the highest TD totals...Moeaki as a road-grading, in-line blocker (assuming I could get him healthy for an entire season), and Fant as my move-TE. Same reasoning for picking ISM for WR, I think Fant caused DCs more nightmares than any other guy on the list.

Seems messed up to pick Fant over Clark, but I think I would.

If you just wanted 2 do-it-all guys, LaPorta and Hockenson would have made a salty duo.

Are we sleeping on Chandler? #2 on the receiving yards list, only played 3 seasons at TE.

I would say no, but do what feels good!

Kittle and Duzey are the "what could have been" team, with regard to collegiate production.
That's the problem.

Kittle gained something like 25 lbs of muscle and exploded after he was drafted.

At their peak ability (including NFL):

Kittle
Clark

Strictly while at Iowa:

Hockenson
Laporta (Moeaki when healthy as you pointed out.)

I do not see how the first name on this list is not Dallas Clark. Dude was the most talented offensive player on a team that was one twisted ankle away from being undefeated and playing for a possible Nattie. He then went on to an amazing NFL career and is in the CF HOF.

As far as college careers only, I then go to Hock. Guy won the Mackey sharing reps at TE with a fellow first rounder? That's sick.

There needs to be a whole separate discussion on best Iowa TE in the NFL who wildly outplayed his projections coming out of Iowa. Kittle leading that list, but several more are there.

This is like saying you can only eat two potato chips...

Clark averaging 16 yrds/catch for all those catches is stupid he's the face of Mount Rushmore.

The craziest thing about TJ and Fant to me is we didn't get to see the best of them necessarily cause they took so many touches away from each other. Fant was an absolute mismatch for college defenses and coulda put up way more numbers then he did and he had himself a hell of a career.

Moeaki to me for the short time he was 100% healthy was the best overall two way guy with blocking and catching. Pairing him with Laporta (who had the worst Iowa QBs and OC combo of them all) woulda been a pretty sick thing to have seen.

Chandler is kinda the forgotten TE amongst the group. He and Myers both kinda fit that but Chandler made himself into being the focus of the O at times. Chandler and CJF are just absolute mountains of human beings and could move well.

Also gotta give Chandler props for this video:

No other Hawkeye tight-end has put on an emmy-worthy performance like this. That "Circle of life" comment kills me every time.

LaPorta and Clark for me. I suspect Vonnahme may be at the top of this list in three years if he stays healthy. NFL size as a freshman, hands, can run after the catch. His route running is insane as well. There was a film analyzer account on Reddit (not HawkeyeGameFilm) that broke down a bunch of his routes and it was pretty wild when you dig into it.

I would go with Dallas Clark and Sam LaPorta. Great pass-catching tight ends and great blockers. Have to do both at Iowa.
