I don't see Koch going anywhere. But I get your point. Having a talented kid stay for 4 years in MBB in going to become exceedingly rare.4 star recruit and, will be a soph, with 16 ppg, High upside.... looks intriguing !! Now, how much and would he stay ?? It's sad that the fans have to deal with this money thing. ( as much as the coaches )....will we ever have legacy players again ??
Um, every program misses out on players. You gotta recruit 50 kids for every one you get. And even when you are one of the finalist, you miss more than you hit. Fran's greatest gifts in my opinion was identifying underrecruited talent at an early stage. He saw juniors that had not blown up and were in on them early. But yes, they exploded before signing and blue bloods would swoop in. Its frustrating, but it is what it is. How many good players has Iowa football swooped in at the last minute and taken from a MAC school?I only hope that Coach McCollum won't have the same issues with landing 4-star players that Coach McCaffery had, i.e. alway seeming to be the bridesmaid with every recruit. They love the coach, they love the school, they love the other players and even the facilities, but they're going elsewhere. I realize that the issue of money enters the equation and we can only hope that our donations can grease the skids into Hawkeye uniforms.
I don't think recruiting was Fran's problem and McCollum has a few four stars already on the roster.I only hope that Coach McCollum won't have the same issues with landing 4-star players that Coach McCaffery had, i.e. alway seeming to be the bridesmaid with every recruit.
