11 AM Kick...

Now that I actually sleep on Friday night's before games, I love the 11 A.M. kicks. In my younger days, I often headed to the games without any sleep at all and just drank all the way to Iowa City to keep my buzz going to avoid a hangover (we always had a DD, and then the rest of us would just get skunked up on the way).

Then don't do it. Why would you want to tailgate for 6+ hours? Anything gets stale after 6 hours.
Parked by 5:45.
Everything set up/situated by 6.
4 hours of grilling / games / drinking.
Take down everything at 10 and walk to kinnick by 10:30.

That's really only 4 hours of tailgating by the time you get settled in. 4 hours isn't that long.

I enjoy tailgating more than the game itself(especially this year). Only 7 home games to do it all year. Need a minimum of 4 hours to enjoy it.

Used to hate them, now they're my favorite. Honestly leaving DSM at 5:30 is a little early, but it gets better. At least you get home at a decent time and can still do something that night. Tailgating is a bit short before the game, but you can still have some fun for a couple hours after the game and get home by 6. Hated the 2:30 starts this year so far. I'd rather have night games than that.

wasn't that long ago that I rarely saw the hawks live on TV. So Its nice just to have them on TV every week. Still there is something sorta sleepy about the early games. But nice to have more football to look forward to after the Iowa game. Don't like having to wait around for the Hawkeye game all afternoon.

The best year ever was in 2002. Pretty much every game was in the 11am slot on ESPN and the temporary voice of the hawkeyes Bob Davie did damn near all of them.

Some pretty small crowd at Kinnick for some of those early season games. 51000 for Akron?
That's a clown crowd, bro.

What do you expect? They were coming off a disappointing season where they barely beat an average Texas Tech game in the lowly Alamo Bowl. Fans were rightly expecting Kert to have things turned around by year 4, and they had not seen it yet.
