    The War

Russia's invasion of Ukraine showed how far their military capability had degraded, and they have since used Ukraine as a training ground to bring up their capabilities. I think we have learned about modern warfare from our front-row seat to Russia-Ukraine, we began our adaptation prior to the...

    The War

I respect your views, but you are a bit more nihilistic about the state of our current government than I. I am going to propose an extreme scenario, NOT to liken what is currently going on to this scenario, but as a far-end-of-the-spectrum case study as a thought experiment. This is not some...

    Norvell new RB coach

That seemed like an opportunity to bring in someone young with the potential to be a dynamic recruiter. Not sure if this should be seen as a coup (getting a very experienced coach on staff) or a lost opportunity?

    The War

Completely agree about the uselessness of ranting and raving on a message board, but I better understand things by writing out my thoughts. That can be elucidating, and potentially therapeutic. And let's face it, I have dedicated several hours of my life to exploring the potential members of the...

    The War

I think it is pretty clear, big losers so far in this war: Iran other Gulf states whose economies and securities have been massively disrupted Big winners so far... Probably Israel as they are securing hegemony in the Middle East, though we will have to see how far-ranging the ramifications...

    All-KF Era Team: CBs

Fine, I will add them (mostly just being lazy)...

    All-KF Era Team: CBs

I think King was the best shutdown corner we have had. He should have been 2x All-American, but apparently none of the voters watched him play as a senior and just assumed if his INTs went down he didn't play as well. No one dared to target his guy when he was a senior. I think DeJean was our...

    All-KF Era Team: CBs

I totally blew that...I knew he played both at Iowa, but I thought he played more S than CB. I will edit the original post to correct that...thanks!

    All-KF Era Team: CBs

As impressive as all of the B1G DBs of the year are, I am equally impressed by how many late-bloomers we have had who really shown as senior corners. Guys like Lowery, Mabin, Ojemudia, TJ Hall this past year. These are guys that took lumps early, but developed into guys worthy of All-B1G...

    All-KF Era Team: CBs

Iowa CBs who played in the NFL (they did not all necessarily play corner in NFL): *please correct if some of these did NOT play CB at Iowa Benny Sapp (2004 - 2011...played 2 season with Hawks, removed from team for domestic violence charges, then 2 with UNI) Charles Godfrey (2008 - 2015)...

    All-KF Era Team: CBs

As a heads up, I am going to treat our Cash position as a safety. You could argue that it is a slot-CB, or even that it is a linebacker (it is a combination of all 3). But, you will see those Cash players showing up with the safeties. edit: I added Micah Hyde into the lists, I was originally...

    Can we beat the Bruins?...thread

At the start of the season, it looked like Iowa would be a legit 10-deep, and the challenge seemed to be finding everyone minutes. The season got away from Hayes...I think she has a bright future, but she has just not been able to adjust to B1G competition. I think she is a future All-B1G...

    All-KF Era Team: LBs

Campbell and Greenway are on pretty much everyone's list...the race for that 3rd spot involves lots of guys, and they are all neck-and-neck!

    All-KF Era Team: LBs

I thought more would be choosing Kirksey...2nd longest NFL tenure from this list, though Campbell will surpass him, barring injury. He was also kind of the precursor to our modern-day Cash position. He wasn't quite covering like Hooker/Belton/Castro, but he wasn't too far off.

    All-KF Era Team: LBs

I think we have to give Seth Wallace a lot of credit for our recent LB production. He was elevated to LB coach in 2016, and since then, we have had 3 B1G LBs of the year, and a total of 5 1st team All-B1G LB seasons. And there have been a ton of guys like the Niemanns, Kristian Welch, Bo Bowers...

Angerer and Edds also worth consideration.

    All-KF Era Team: LBs

Perhaps it should have been Campbell and Higgins? We had a unanimous All-American starting, with a future 2x All-American on the bench behind him. Though Seth Benson was no slouch, and there is no guarantee that sophomore Higgins would have been better than senior Benson (2nd team All-B1G from...

    All-KF Era Team: LBs

I would say Mike and Sam are pretty interchangeable. Usually our best ILB was at Mike, but not always. Greenway played Sam (I think?), as did Hitchens. Leo is pretty unique and has now mostly been replaced by Cash, so harder to know how to treat that one. But you know someone like Greenway...

    All-KF Era Team: LBs

Butkus: Jack Campbell All-Americans (1st team unless otherwise specified): Chad Greenway (2nd team in 2004 and 2005) Pat Angerer (2009) Josey Jewel (2017 unanimous) Jack Campbell (2022 unanimous) Jay Higgins (2023; 2024 unanimous) B1G LB of the Year: Jewell (2017) Campbell (2022) Higgins...

    All-KF Era Team: DL

Memory is a weird thing...my wife was convinced that she was at the Iowa WBB regular season finale a few years ago with CC broke Pistol Pete's NCAA scoring record and Molly Davis injured her knee. Swore to it, up and down. I told her no, you were home with one of our sick kids. She did not...
