Tomorrow a Big Day for Iowa

They were well ahead of Iowa anyways, I would rather not have Providence get life. Cincy is one bubble team that actually has a good resume. They are a lock.

Tim Brando says Iowa needs two

Why do you think Lunardi 'knows a lot', because he works for ESPN ? His actual performance the last 5 years has been bad. If he fails again this year, don't be surprised if their is a new 'expert' at ESPN next year.

Seth Davis thinks Iowa has to win the BTT to get in

If Iowa can beat MSU on a neutral court, they can beat most teams in the NCAA tournament. Not saying they are going to the sweet 16, I am just saying I think the BTT after Northwestern is a tougher road than the NCAA.

Tomorrow a Big Day for Iowa

Would be real helpful to see Oregon St, St John's or SDS win. All 3 would be a bad loss to end the year for a bubble team.

LIVERPI actually does do this with the 'future RPI projection' website. The program would be very similar. All I am talking about is changing the Iowa's schedule by 5 games. Yes, there would be an effect on other teams. A computer program can handle that just like they do when computing the RPI...

Seth Davis thinks Iowa has to win the BTT to get in

Honestly, do you think there is any chance Seth Davis would say something good about the Iowa basketball team ? Do you think Tanya Alford thinks highly of Iowa basketball ? Seth Davis's opinion about Iowa is compromised, he is too close to Alford.

Seth Davis thinks Iowa has to win the BTT to get in

I would discount Gottlieb and Seth Davis. Seth Davis clearly has an axe to grind, and Gottlieb prediction of us needing 1 win to get in I don't think is correct either, unfortunately. I think the truth is 2 games, with a small possibility of 3 if almost every bubble team performs strong in their...

    ESPN Bubble Watch

I would just change the 5 home games for Iowa. The RPI effect on other top 100 teams would be real minimal, but that is why it would be an estimation and not exact. A computer program could spit out exact numbers in a second. I know they have those for the BCS, not aware of any for the RPI...

    ESPN Bubble Watch

I can tell you 90% of the problem. We played 5 teams that are 310+ at home. That pretty much sabotages Iowa's RPI. For example, Wyoming played zero teams with an RPI over 300. V tech also hurt, as they were playing well when we played them (Beat Oklahoma the next game), and then proceeded to...

I could do a crude estimation. I am surprised a website doesn't have a program where you can do this. The RPI is pretty simple, so it would not be hard.

Seth Davis thinks Iowa has to win the BTT to get in

If we beat MSU, we will have 5 top 50 wins, far more than any other bubble team. Seth hates Iowa because of Alford. I agree with him, if everyone looks at Iowa on the committee like Seth Davis does, we are doomed. They may make up a rule to exclude Iowa with 4 more wins.

    ESPN Bubble Watch

I agree. Pretty soon every big college coach is going to have an RPI expert advising them. Then about 50-75 NCAA teams won't be able to fill out a schedule because nobody will play them. Iowa would be better off with playing a scrimmage that doesn't count than playing a MEAC team. If you...

    ESPN Bubble Watch

The problem is not that numbers/computers are used, the problem is how they are used. The RPI is awful. Way too much of who you play, and way too much weight placed on the bottom teams. Is there really that much difference between #220 and #320 ? Yes, according to the RPI. Look at some of the...

The week of 3-11 Rooting Interests

Actually a neutral court win by a team like Western kentucky can move Iowa up 2-4 spots in the RPI alone. The RPI difference between 60 and 75 is very thin.

    Lunardi's Latest after Sundays Games

Agree. Ill is in, however if Minnesota puts up another horrible performance, they could get left out. The eyeball test counts for something, and they fail it big time right now.

The week of 3-11 Rooting Interests

I think Gonzaga is the most important win for the night After that, Iowa can help its RPI with W Kentucky, CM and others I think the Summit conference is a one bid no matter who wins

    Lunardi's Latest after Sundays Games

Middle Tennessee will not make it in the tourney. Their best win is a 3 point home win over Mississippi. 1 top 100 win. No chance. Lunardi is very overrated when it comes to his profession.

Redshirt Gabe Next Year...... NOT SO FAST!!!

I think Fran sees something that many fans don't. Zach is a good player and is valuable in his 15 minutes. Plays good D, rebounds, takes the charge and has become one of the better passers on the team. I like him off the bench and think he will hold on to his 15 min per game next year.

My Last Futile Attempt to Predict 2013 B1G Hoops Bracket

I love the fact that Ill and Minn might have to play each other in the first round. Minnesota could end the season with quite the thud.

    Yet another seeding question...

I think Minnesota is in trouble if they lose there next 2. I know they have a great RPI, but it may not be enough the way they are playing currently.
