Iowa Coaches Confident in Joe Labas

With 3 weeks of snaps as qb1, with a sub par oline, I thought Labas movement, progression through reads, quick release, pretty accurate on shorter throws. Missed on a couple longer throws, but had some good touch. Wasn't spectacular, but seemed to make good decisions, avoided pressure and...

Will BF Be OC Next Spring?

It's not justified, but I think he'll be OC. 6 years in, basically has done worse every year. Not sure how he can point to "best I can do with what I have"....when he's the one in charge bringing in and developing "what we have". It's unfortunate. With just a below mediocre offense, in...

Have teams finally figured out Iowa’s once dominate defense???

4 turnovers, nebby with about 120 yards/17 points taking advantage of a 4th/5th string corner. Not having Dejean, Harris, Roberts can't be overstated. The only slight critical thought is not immediately putting Moss on Palmer who accounts for 75% of their passing attack. 3 turnovers on Iowas...

It sucks the big one, but this disappointing home loss, with everything on the line division wise, sums up this sorry season.

Losing Dejean and 3 really bad turnovers (2 due to terribly schemed, terribly timed naked boots straight into unblocked blitzes, with not having established a run game yet...OC incompetence). The muffed punt was rough as well. Damn painful to lose to nebby, playing like that. Everything that...

The data is in - Petras is an all-time Hawkeye great

All is well, just work and 9 year old twin boy and girl in every imaginable activity keeping me busy. Lol.

The data is in - Petras is an all-time Hawkeye great

I certainly did. There's always kernels of truth in OK4P posts, which makes his trolling provocative and conversation inducing. He makes me laugh, and is entertaining. Haven't been able to be on the site as much this year, glad you've kept it rolling Fry

Really it all comes down to the Minny Game...right?

This is my nightmare. I'm seeing way to much about how the nebby game is a gimme. It's absolutely not, especially with Thompson back.

The data is in - Petras is an all-time Hawkeye great

He's taken more blame than he's been due. OC, Oline performance has been as much if not more to blame. He makes some throws that few college qbs can. It's just too inconsistent, again how much if that is due to oline, schemes, coaching? Hard to know. But his pocket presence, vision...

Howe: Iowa's Comeback Kids Still Rolling

Even the 3rd string TE looked really good. Man, have we had a hell of a run at that position.

Assuming Iowa beats Nebraska and plays in Big 10 conf game…

Oline is priority #1. Develop, build depth with 1-2 transfers and recruiting, and get Proctor in the mix. Should at a minimum be better, and could be a Lot better. QB will continue to be a question. Can we catch some luck and get a gamer the coaches don't neuter. Lachey, hopefully...

    Petras played one helluva game

Not sure if it's something you can develop, but i agree. Quicker decision making and pocket presence would improve almost every aspect for Petras. At 6'5 235 he'll never be quick, but the few times he's just rain straight to daylight...2-3 yards. Compare that to -7.... huge difference...

Nebraska losing streaks vs. B1G West

Just beat nebby. They will be highly motivated to be spoiler. The have a very good rb, and maybe one of the best wrs in the conference. Thompson is potentially the only true dual threat qb in our conference that can both pass and very much hurt you with the run. Their offense is different...

I haven't felt this hopeless since...

I absolutely agree the offense performance is on BF and KF. I disagree on talent. I could be wrong but I think we have 2 potential NFL Tights ends, and 2 good, nit elite RBs in KJ and LW. Wr position is extremely thin and no deep threat with Johnson hurt and Brecht not developed. Ragaini...

Practice National Champions vs Osu Game thread

I truly feel bad for this defense. I'm legitimately worried about mass transfers, both sides of the ball. Coaching malpractice and incompetence at coaching/development of QB, Oline, and scheming over last 4-5 years has killed Iowa football... all while having perennial top 10-20 defense...

Oline has been on a downward spiral ever since Doyle left.

This. Oline isn't great, and is young. Depth issues is on coaching and recruiting. Schemes, qb personnel(mobility), etc can make an oline look a whole lot better. Defenses not needing to be concerned with a qb that isn't mobile, and an offense that never goes vertical, can stack box, blitz...

Below avg offense, 8+ wins. Ok, I'll take the frustration at times, pros outweigh cons...etc. Worst offense in modern Era of college football..."don't see any reason to change..." nah, get bent

We go 4-8, finish 130th in offense, and he brings BF back. He will undo 22 years of equity and legacy. He already has really. Comments like the last couple weeks are beyond ridiculous
