Incredibly sad story. Sounds like he accidentally shot himself. His mother had just passed away from cancer in August. I feel awful for his family.
He averaged 14 points, 7 boards and 3 blocks per game as a sophomore. He stands 7 feet tall and weighs 235 pounds.
He'd have to sit a year but would be a great addition and could start right away for Iowa after Garza graduates.
@RobHowe any idea if Fran will go after him?
MSU favored by 8.5 last I saw. Can Iowa win for just the third time in 27 years at Breslin? Do the refs try to foul out Garza by the 10 minute mark of the first half? Does Fran get T'd up? Does CJ play? Tune in to find out!
I saw this on another board and thought it was interesting. I looked back through the 2017 recruiting class to find out which recruits were hits (clear starters/good performers), guys (see the field but don't do much) or misses (injured, transfers, busts). Most either turned into hits or misses...
Had offers from Iowa State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Army.
Total Offense: 61st (412 yards per game)
Total Defense: 5th (282 yards allowed per game)
These stats align with the numbers of our better teams under Ferentz. 61st for total offense isn't amazing but it's still a heck of a lot better than what we've seen the past 6 or 7 seasons.
So I knew Fant would draw NFL interest with his combination of size, speed and hands, but these mock drafts were very surprising. Maybe this isn't surprising to some of you, but I wasn't expecting the consensus to be first round pick...
