If Iowa football got the death penalty

who would your new team be?

Let's just say they found out that Kurt had personally paid like 50 players, GarBar was in on it, etc., and they gave Iowa the death penalty in football because Delaney signed a deal with Notre Dame but wanted to keep the conference at 12 for football purposes. What new colors would you guys wear on Saturdays in the fall?

I would probably switch to purple for NU. My guess is that the results will shake out like this:

40% - Nebraska
40% - Iowa State
10% - Minnesota
1% - Wisconsin
3% - Illinois or Missourrah
1% - Northwestern
5% - Other/give up on college football

Fail, that being said, TCU, go horned frogs!!!!

Still the Hawks. However, if I were forced to choose a different team......still the Hawks.

If and only if the Hawks were forced out of football altogether I would go with Boise State. Couldn't pull for another B10 team and I hate the B12. BSU has been fun to watch. If I had the itch for a live game I would go to the UNI Dome.....I guess.

Guess I'd start reading about/watching one of those Title IX-got our hand out-sports like lacrosse. Rowing might even be somewhat interesting.

Too much of a emotional investment since I was kid to jump ship, but in the spirit of this thread.

Pitt Panthers

I loved those Marino/Green teams of the late 70's, early 80's. Also, I have a fascination with the city of Pittsburgh, can't really explain it I just do.

If this were the case, Hawkeye fan til I die, but would have no problem supporting Wisconsin. I've got family in Milwuakee and unlike the majority of the posters here, I actually respect the program and have nothing against them whatsoever.

All of you are nuts who say they would start to support Wisky if Iowa got the hammer dropped on them. Do you think for a second any Wisky fan would support Iowa if the role was reversed? Hell no they wouldn't. I would fully concentrate on my alma mater Northwest Missouri State...yeah they are D-II but they kick *** at that level and run a fun to watch offense.

Not sure I get your point. One, who cares what Wisky fans would do? Two, I'd rather continue to follow BCS football. Nothing against Northwest Missouri State, but its an inferior product to what we follow now and to me would be a step down. I graduated from Iowa Wesleyan, while never missing a Hawkeye game to support their football program, it just wasn't the same. Sorry to disappoint you.

If there were no Hawks to root for I'd stop watching or caring about football.

BTW its Kirk 'ya heathen.

I'm with you. My favorite week of the season is always Wisky week. Madtown is a blast and a short little drive, and the games are always fun to watch.

This.

I hear you. There is absolutely no comparison between going to a game at Kinnick and going to a game at Bearcat Stadium. All I am saying is if I there is no Iowa football to follow I really don't give two S**** about the rest of the BCS there for I will 100% support my Bearcats!

I hear you there. Like I said I went to Iowa Wesleyan in Mt. Pleasant. Went to two games while I was there and the only difference between that and a highschool game, was the fact that people show up for high school games.

I think some older Wiskey fans, might jump to Iowa. I guess if the Hawks were gone and never coming back, I would follow Wiskey. Our fan bases do respect each others programs, although they may not always show it. As I have said before, for many of us, the Wiskey game was "the game" every year.
Not playing them every year, pisses me off to no end. Something about that whole deal stinks, I dont know what it is, but I dont like it.
