Rumor Has It. - Dylan Riaola

The same dozen teams have been at the top of CFB my entire life.
Yep, Cash under the table for sure to keep them there by paying their recruits or the recruit's parents. Seems silly now looking back on it since they can get the best players in the "pay to play" semi pro league now. Still there was a faint hope decades ago that a majority of the teams tried to play according to the rules. Maybe that hope was totally delusional.

I think it's funny.

If the Big Ten could do it all over again would Nebby even get into the Big Ten now? They only got in because of the prestige of their football program and now that's gone.
Yes, I think Nebraska would do it. In my opinion the SEC and the Big Ten are THEE King's of college football. Especially since Texas and Oklahoma left what is now the Big Twelve. I mean how bad is a conference when Iowa State is considered one of the main contenders in their conference year after year? I can throw BYU into that same mix. In my opinion neither one of those two teams at this point could competently compete against the Big Ten schools or SEC schools.............. "see Nebraska". Geographically Nebraska didn't fit into the SEC so it was only natural that they joined the Big Ten. With the dissolving of the PAC-10 college football is really made college football a two conference league.

Actually joining the Big Ten benefited Nebraska financially, but competitively they would be better off being in the Big Twelve............ as would IOWA. Iowa is as good as Iowa State if not better (despite the results of the last two meeting} which means Iowa would be a major competitor in the Big Twelve title chase. Let's be honest here, we are really struggling in the Big Ten as far as conference title football is considered. Close only counts in horse shoes.

Hopefully Ben can build the basketball program to a point of national prominence again, meaning competing for Big Ten conference titles. At this point we can not truthfully say that about the Iowa football program. Individual games and upsets here and there....... Yes, but conference titles...... no, It is what it is at this point. A good respectable football program, yes, absolutely, but title achieving........ no. That ship has sailed. It would take almost a freak situation like Indiana has achieved. Not impossible but the odds are not with us as this point. So enjoy what ever good that comes from the football program. Hoping for a Nebraska smash down in about eight hours.

I can not begin to tell you how painful that is to admit. Been following and cheering as a Hawkeye fan for over sixty years. Suffered through Bob C years and was grateful for what Hayden and Kirk have been able to achieve for several decades. Will continue to watch and cheer and support the team, and yet be realistic.

This is patently false. Close also counts in hand grenades.

I think you will be surprised at how good Raiola will be if he transfers to a top SEC school. Don’t forget he is a Sophomore.

Point #1 - Nebby as we ALL know hangs their hat on and always brags about their past success. But lets be honest, that was a REAL long time ago and a college football landscape that was drastically different. Nebby loved playing in the BIG 8, when they had the most success. You point this out above. The only team they really had to deal with was OK so they had success. They miss that and many of their fans would prefer to go back to the BIG 12 even losing the $$$$$$$$$$$.

Point #2 - I disagree about Iowa. Yes, Iowa had 4 losses this year but they were competitive in every game and just plays away from possibly going undefeated or with 2 losses which would have them in the playoffs. If you have a team in the upper 30% of the BIG, that's damn good this day in age. The playoff should be the bar for teams like Iowa and they were right there this year. They admittingly have a couple holes to plug as far as the team but I don't think they struggled so much. Is there a gap that they have to close, sure, but I can tell you every team at the top of the conference takes Iowa very seriously. A team can have 4 losses some years and still be a good team. That is what Iowa was this year. They are competitive. That is what Nebraska is not.

Point #4 - We will learn a ton about Iowa tomorrow night at Mich St. If they are able to hang with and possibly beat Mich St, I will be 100% bought in and realize we got a gem in McCollum.

I disagree and would pass. He kind of has a McNamara entitled feel to him and pulling Proctor stuff. No thanks. Iowa DOES NOT need any of that in its locker room.
Agree, has a locker room problem vibes for me. They mentioned it a little in the game how he was texting Lafeet about ways to improve and attack. Does he not go to practice and meetings anymore? Why couldn’t he just talk to him face to face, he showed up to the game scooting all over beforehand?
