Markel Smith LOI has been received

Not sure if you were serious, but this highlight should cause you to re-think your statement. By now, I think we all realize MW isn't a tailback, including the coaching staff. But this kid is nothing like MW.

My favorite is the cute little kickoff scheme of the red and white team that ends up with the players totally abondoning their lanes. Hey coach, stop being cute and just teach your players how to play.

Uh oh. Did we find an rb with vision and cutback ability? I was under the impression he was more of a power back with his size. Nice skill set for a good size back. Seems to use his blockers very well.

I can tell from the video that this guy will translate into two additional wins per season. Of course, Kurt won't play him until he's a junior, but things are looking good for a few years down the road.

I admit I was beginning to get a little worried that some other team had got to him and had him rethinking his commitment to Iowa.

I was listening to some sportstalk program (whatever is on at 5:30 on AM 1230 in the QC) ... they were pretty high on Smith.

One guy said he reminded him of shonn greene (clarified by saying "college/early NFL greene -- the one you want"). They specifically mentioned how the combination of his talent and Iowa's ability to develop players would pay dividends here.

I'm not really up on recruiting and the like, but I was glad to hear this (if it's true).

I am expecting huge things from him, can't recall the last time I was so excited for RB recruit. I also like that we have some talent in front of him so he can redshirt and learn the offense for a couple years before being unleashed on the conference.

And how exactly is Weisman not a Tailback? He carried the ball 184 time for 865 yards last year. Not too bad of a year.

This kid seems like he is going to be a stud. From his interview with Morehouse he said he is very self motivated to get better and is contestantly in the weight room and the last time he was times in the 40 it was 4.4.

He's not. Is he a great football player? yes.

Nobdy is saying that Weisman sucks he is just playing the wrong position.

Great, a younger version of Weisman.

If that's the worst he ends up as...we did pretty dang good...I don't understand this board's hate of Mark Weisman...the kid does the best he can...and no...he's not a burner...but I LOVE watching him finish those runs when he bowls over a DB or LB'er...like at Nebby. If Iowa football were a tailback...it would be Mark Weisman. (now...yes...I wish Mark had a bit more speed) His career average is 4.6 yards per carry...that's pretty dang good...if you go to Kirk and say we can guarantee almost 5 yards if you rush the ball from now until forever...Iowa would never pass again. (that is hypothetical I understand)

And KF will continue to play those bulldozers in the tailback position. Is KF compensating for Iowa's Oline? Why does Iowa need another slow, bruiser at tailback?

And some of you still think Gordon of Wisky would have sniffed the starting lineup at Iowa? Meh.

Given our depth at tailback, I think Gordon would have had to find his way onto the field on special teams and then perhaps at defensive back. We didn't need him.

Probably McCall for me.;)
